What are we going to do

Indulge your inner artist this summer with LOVI workshop! LOVI designs are 3D birch wood figures, hand-painted and self-assembled using a clever slotting method. The end product is a personalized 3D design that will compliment your home décor or can be mailed as a cheerful greeting to a loved one. LOVI workshop is self-directed and suitable for all ages and families too—perfect for quality time together!

Choose from a selection of medium size LOVI animal figures and then get creative by painting the flat wooden surface. Next, practice 3D thinking and transform the painted wood into a 3D figure. Your creation is one of a kind, showing the warmth of your own personality. Just let your mind unwind and wander in natural creative flow, for we are all artists!

After the workshop, enjoy coffee and a sweet treat in our café. Allow time to browse Taito Shop, a Finnish handcraft and gift shop. We specialize in handmade local products such as the Luotolainen sweater, sauna and tar products, home interior items and chic jewelry. There is something for everyone!

About Taito Pohjois-Pohjanmaa ry - the Doer

Local Oulu artist and industrial designer Anne Paso is the creator behind LOVI designs. In 2001 she had an idea to create a wooden Christmas tree bauble, as an alternative to plastic ones. She soon realized that a 3D puzzle would be eco-friendly, convenient to send by mail as a greeting card, and fun for the recipient to make themselves. Out of this innovation, the first LOVI bauble was sent around the world in 2003. See a display of LOVI world creations at Taito Shop!

Taito Shop and Taito Skill Center is a non-profit Finnish handcraft organization of over 100 years. We focus on traditional skills such as rug weaving, knitting, punch needling, macramé and other textile arts. Our mission is to cultivate handcraft culture by offering courses to the public and by supporting local artisanship. Most importantly we want to share the joy that comes by working with your own hands. Taito and LOVI have created a natural partnership based on shared values for promoting Finnish handcraft and design culture, as well as their commitment to environmentally responsible business practices.
