What are we going to do

Have you noticed, how quiet a forest can be in winter? On a calm day there is no sound in the forest. The majestical trees rise towards the sky. The tracks of animals cruise on the snow, but you can see or hear none of them. Unless you manage to walk along secret wintertrails into places, where – with good luck – you can see some flying or furry friends.

Would you like to go seeking for these magic places? To get calmed and inspired in the arms of forest. To tune yourself into the world of stream, plants and animals resting under snow and ice.

On the sensory walk we wander together in the peaceful nature. Our route goes both in the forest and along a river. We stop often to sense the nature around us by listening, watching, touching, smelling and tasting. We seek the animal tracks from the snow. We sense the moments weather and the phase of winter. Lightning, temperature, wind, rain, the happenings along the path are different every day and every moment. Let’s find out together, what kind of an experience nature will give to us.

At the end of the wander we shall enjoy a cup of hot herbal tea and tastings of local baked goods. If you want, by bringing more food for yourself, you can have a whole meal in the forest.

About Marjikko - the Doer

Hey! I am Anna, a guide to Marjikko excursions.

My home region Ouluriver-valley has many diverse and beautiful natural sites: rapids, trails, berry bogs, old forests. Nature’s treasures can be found right here and I think THAT is awesome.

As a guide, I’m a novice, so everything is new and amazing for me too. Welcome aboard to experience the local wonders: tastes of the natural products and to be mesmerized by the beauty and healing effects of nature.

Footwear suitable for snowy trails and winter clothing suitable for the days weather. Wear warm gloves and a beanie!
