Lapland, Lappi in Finnish, is the northernmost region of Finland. There are many great places for meeting locals and enjoying the Arctic nature. The capital of Lapland, Rovaniemi, is the most popular travel destination. Other interesting destinations in Lapland include, for example, Sodankylä, and the village of Levi in Kittilä. Doerz also offers many unforgettable experiences that go beyond the biggest tourist attractions.

Remember, the distances in Lapland are long, and it is a good idea to plan your activities well in advance.

Browse through our Lapland experiences and choose your own favourites. We have a wide range of local experiences suitable for different kinds of travellers. We are sure you will find the perfect travel experiences for your holiday in Lapland, whether you are a solo traveller, planning a romantic holiday, or travelling to Lapland with friends or family.

Live like a local in Lapland

The Arctic nature is breathtaking, and it mesmerises travellers from all over the world. Various outdoor activities and hiking in the Arctic nature are the most popular experiences in Lapland. With Doerz’s local guides you can experience a husky ride, reindeer ride, or snowy trip with snowshoes. Or if you are more of a daredevil, how about a fun ride on a snowmobile

Fishing, ice fishing, and picking berries and mushrooms are also things you want to experience with the locals. How else would you find the best berry picking places in Lapland? The hidden gems of Lapland can only be found when a local shares their secrets with you.

What is the best time to travel to Lapland?

Because of all the snow activities, like skiing, snowmobile driving and building snow sculptures, the winter season is obviously the best time to travel to Finnish Lapland. Still, the beautiful scenes of the Arctic nature are worth seeing at any time of the year. In the spring, Lapland’s nature wakes up, and in the summer, travellers can admire the magical midnight sun. Autumn is also an excellent time for visiting Lapland – you can’t find colours like Lapland’s autumn anywhere else!

Seasonal changes in Lapland are stronger than anywhere else in the world. Each season is different and has something unique to offer. The busiest periods in Lapland are Christmas and Easter. We recommend booking your local experiences early because the holiday times are usually busy in Lapland.

Lapland with children

What to do when travelling to Lapland with kids? There are many unforgettable experiences to enjoy with your family, like a husky ride or a canoe trip together with highly skilled local guides. Put your creativity to test and build a snow sculpture with your family, or learn how to make hand-made candles – authentic experiences are the highlights of your family holiday.

Memorable travel experiences don’t need to be expensive. With our local guides we offer lots of affordable activities to do in Lapland. When you book a husky ride or any other activity, remember to ask your local guide for insider tips! Our guides are more than happy to share their Lapland knowledge with you, and give you tips about child-friendly activities and where to find the most beautiful gems of Arctic nature. Hiking in Lapland is a holiday activity at its best, and in most places you can explore the Arctic nature for a very small fee or completely free of charge. A family holiday in Lapland can be surprisingly affordable!

Discover the local craft beer taste

It was a great tour! Perfect for lovers of beer and food, it is best to book a private tour, worth its price and without a car there is difficult to get there.

Be a musher! 25km husky ride

Greatest memory ever. We wanted to take a husky sleigh ride, but didn’t want to pay too much for a touristic 20 minute ride. So this was exactly what we wanted. It was just Antti and the two of us. This Trip was everything we hoped it to be. First we were picked up at our apartment and took the short ride to their home. We got some warm clothes from them and went to meet the dogs. Antti then prepared the sleds and we began our two hour ride. With a short break for a tea in the middle we had the best time ever. The dogs enjoyed it as well. They didn’t like the break though. Back home the dogs were fed, we drank a coffee and Antti drove us to the reindeer farm next door. We will definitely be back.
