What are we going to do

From now on you can experience it again! The 252 steps up to the panoramic view over the Pottrand!

Of the former five blast furnaces of the Meiderich ironworks, three are still preserved today in the Duisburg-Nord landscape park. Blast furnace 5 is the only one of these three that is accessible to visitors. It was completely refurbished again shortly before the plant was closed and is therefore well preserved.

During the tour we will make a stop in the old casting hall and at the winch house, after which an iron staircase at blast furnace 5 leads up to a visitor platform. Here you can enjoy a great view over the city of Duisburg, the Ruhr area and the Lower Rhine. The sight is particularly beautiful at sunset or at night when the lights of the big city light up and the park becomes a light work of art.

Special case Corona:

Blast furnace 5 and its viewing platform are currently closed to normal visitor traffic due to the Covid-19 distance rule.

We unlock it and commit it exclusively.

We recommend wearing mouth and nose protection. You can also disinfect your hands before and after the tour.
