What are we going to do

We pick you up from Kemi and drive (15 min) to Kalli area and hike (15 min) to viewtower to check the sky, moon, stars and Auroras when they occur. We make campfire and the guide will teach you the basics of Aurora hunting in Northern regions. You get also insights to the history of Kemi and Sea Lapland. Possibility also for photoshootings in various locations. Please note that the Aurora Borealis / Northern Lights / Revontulet are natural phenomenon and therefore sighting cannot be guaranteed. Ask availability!

About Marko - the Doer

I'm nature explorist and born in Kemi. I like doing extreme sports like orienteering, skiing, trail running, adventure and rogaining which some of I am also the Finnish Champion. For Aurora hunts I know the best places and surroundings around Kemi. I can also help to adjust the camera settings for catching the best photos of Northern Lights if we see them.

Thank you Marko for sharing with us lots of background and stories about the area and auroras. You are also very talkative and full of humor! Even now we are back in Belgium, when we feel a bit down... we remember: "Check the sky! - I'll check the sky", and we smile. Also, thank you for sharing your spots and sources of information for going hunting by ourselves after that. We didn't see the auroras together, but we were able to look for them on our own after that, following your advice. Many thanks to Marko and his brother! Great experience. We did not see the Aurora but they are so nice, and shared with us lot of stories about history of Kemi and surroundings, made barbecue with us and tried different spot to catch the Aurora. Definitely recommended!

Wonderful remoted area in the snowy forest, were we felt like touching the stars. The campire kept us alive even in -20°C degrees. Seeing the northern light was a dream come true! Marko was very lovely and fast, I sent him a last minute request and it was just me in the tour. He was very kind to share his knowledge and you can tell he really loves showing people around and have good conversations.
He prepared a fire and even we shared some hot chocolate and snacks. Even though it was a beautiful clear sky and a full moon, we didn't manage to see the Northern Lights but the experience was still amazing and I am very grateful Marko was so kind! Highly recommended if you want more of personal experience.

The tour was cancelled by the operator on the day due to low visibility which is fine.
The negative interaction is that instead of receiving my refund I have now received 3 feedback email requests and a text message at 1 am congratulating me on going on the tour.

Marko Yep, I don't do Aurora hunting when they aren't available. Still I can do easy walking tour on pleasant weather enjoying the beautifulness of the nature in Kalli but just to inform customers and keeping the Aurora guarantee we suggest canceling when it is not time to go. So canceling procedures should be easier on this platform.
