What are we going to do

Feel the peace and beauty of the dark forest safely with me and see the Säynätsalo Town Hall in its evening lights during the same trip.

We will start our journey at 8.50 pm. from Säynätsalo Town Hall that is designed by Alvar Aalto. (If you come from center of Jyväskylä take bus no. 16 that leaves center at 20.15.) After experiencing the amazing beauty of the Town Hall in the evening lights we head to the forests of Kinkovuori. On our way we also pass by the Cable Bridge of Louhunsalmi which has also amazing evening lights.

In the forests of Kinkovuori we explore the forest in the light of headlamps. I know these forests like my own pockets so you will be safe with me. In the forest we move slowly while experiencing the forest with all our senses. We stop to admire the beauty and peace of the dark forest and breathe the fresh air. We do all of this in silence. In the end we stop to admire the view to Säynätsalo island and its lights.

Our journey ends at the Säynätsalo Town Hall at 10.50 pm. where you can take the bus no. 16 to the center of Jyväskylä. Of course there is also a possibility to take a room from Säynätsalo Town Hall.

I have lived in Säynätsalo, Kinkovuori fourteen years. These forests have become like a home to me and I love my daily walks in the forest with my dog. The forest to me is a place where I can relax, calm down and heal. This winter I have fallen in love with being in the forest especially in the dark. The forest is proven to have positive effects for our mental and physical health and in Japan some doctors even give prescriptions for forest baths. Mental health and the things considering it are extremely close to my heart. I am also an official forest bathing guide and a mindfulness guide and teacher.


Minimum of two participants.

Gear needed: Good shoes that are suitable for walking in the forest (forest may be snowy, wet or slippery). Warm clothes, many layers, a beanie and warm gloves and a water bottle. We are standing still and may also lie on the mattress awhile. Headlamps are provided by me.

Even thought I know this forest really well there is still for example a possibility to sprain your ankle etc. So make sure your travel insurance is valid.
