What are we going to do
Helsinki is among the most livable cities in the world! If you ask me why, my answer would be that is because of the presence of nature. Anywhere you go in the city, either a forest, the sea or a park is always within walking distance.
On this Helsinki Walking tour, we'll go and explore how nature meets urban city life in Eastern Helsinki. We'll start from Kalasatama neighborhood, which is among the fastest-growing areas of Helsinki. Kalasatama translates as "Fish Port", and is today referred to as a smart city, due to many innovative projects such as robot buses.
From Kalasatama we'll walk towards Mustikkamaa, a small island where we'll find small beaches, forests, running trails, and many locals enjoying their leisure time. We'll have a walk around the island and observe nature, maybe you'll even have a swim in the Baltic Sea. From Mustikkamaa we have great views towards the city of Helsinki, and we'll also get to witness how the city is being built towards the east.
After a 2 km walk around Mustikkamaa, we'll leave nature behind us and head back to the urban city. We'll make our way to Teurastamo District, an old abattoir which today is home to restaurants, cafés, and a picnic area. We'll have a Helsinki-style barbecue at one of the open-air public barbecues and enjoy the local atmosphere. You'll get to try some Finnish food, and see parts of the city overlooked by travelers.

About Rento Helsinki Tours - the Doer
I'm a local certified tour guide passionate about Helsinki. I love to show my city to visitors, and explain things about Finland's history, culture, society, and curiosities. I offer personal experiences and the groups are small, which guarantees interactive tours.
I have worked as a guide in Helsinki for four years, and I started my own business Rento Helsinki Tours during spring 2021. I want to offer unique and memorable experiences, and I'm much against crowded and pre-scripted tours. On my tours, you'll have an opportunity to ask all your questions, and get a real and honest view of Helsinki.
