What are we going to do
During this day tour, you will have the opportunity to pay a visit to Unesco Heritage Site Suomenlinna sea fortress, formed around the harbor of Helsinki. We will also visit the eastern fortress Vallisaari ("Embankment Island") which is reached with a short ferry trip. The ships to Vallisaari start to sail first of May and sail until end of September. We will spend the first part of our tour by walking around Vallisaari which has been freed from military use year 2016, and then change to Suomenlinna main fortress islands. The complete day length is 6 hours.

ITINERARY:
We will start our day at your hotel or cruise ship port, and depending your hotel location, take local transport to the Market Square. From there we sail first to Vallisaari, which forms the eastern fortress of Suomenlinna. Vallisaari has been used by the military as an artillery base until 2016, and is now open for public to walk around. The nature in Vallisaari is unique and beautiful. From Vallisaari we sail to main island of Suomenlinna, and have the opportunity to enjoy lunch in a restaurant (on your own expense). After lunch, we walk around the fortress and hear the history of the site, who has built it and why, wars that have been fought here and the current situation as a Unesco World Heritage site. Your guide (me) is an authorized Suomenlinna guide, and will lead you through the historical events. We may also visit the Suomenlinna Museum if you wish. After the tour, we sail back to Market Square and get back to your hotel or cruise port.

I am a Nature and Wilderness guide, with a professional ability to work as a tourist guide in Helsinki. I am also able to take you to Suomenlinna as an authorized guide, although it is not allowed to ride bikes there. I have started as a tourist guide year 2013, and I have professional education for this kind of lifestyle and profession. I used to be 39 years as an computer engineer, but that was not nice... so now it is the time to enjoy life!
Requirements
This tour experience is provided to you outside, so please take good clothing - there will always be a frisky wind in Suomenlinna. Also, have good walking shoes with you!
