What are we going to do

Kallio is a former working-class district of Helsinki and today it's the most bohemian and liberal area in the whole country. It has a colorful history, small lovely boutiques, coffee shops, second-hand shops and a large number of bars.

Hear stories about the criminal history of the area and its notorious bars, see the interesting and historical buildings and sights of Kallio, take a look at one of the oldest public saunas of Helsinki and hear more about the Finnish sauna culture. Experience the area with a real Kallio local and see how people live in one of the most authentic districts of Helsinki!

At the end of the tour there will be a craft beer tasting at a local pub.

About Maddalena - the Doer

Travel, wine and food are in my DNA.
I grew up between two cultures, my mother being Finnish and my father Italian, and from a very young age, I travelled a lot. My paternal grandparents were from the Italian Valpolicella wine region, and quality wine and food are close to my heart, so much so that I became a sommelier in 2014.
I live in Helsinki, my favourite city in the world, where I started my company, Vino Tours, specialising in offering authentic local experiences in Finland, Italy and the rest of Europe. I am an authorised Helsinki (and Porvoo) guide, and I offer guided walking tours and food tours in four different languages. In addition to the well-known sights, I make my customers fall in love with Helsinki by letting them in on some of the city’s best well-kept secrets and stories.
