What are we going to do
Welcome to Helsinki, the capital of Finland! Here you can find how it feels to live in a country located between west and the east, see the development from Swedish time trough Russian time, and finally the 101 years of Finland's independence. By the beginning of the 20th century, Helsinki had a population of over 100, 000 inhabitant. This town is now a metropolitan area, consisting of Helsinki, Vantaa and Espoo towns.
During this tour, you will have the opportunity to view the major sites of Helsinki, and pay a visit to Unesco Heritage Site Suomenlinna which is reached after a short ferry trip. We will spend the first part of our tour by driving around Helsinki, and then take a ferry to Suomenlinna. The complete day length is 6 hours.

ITINERARY:
We can start our day at your hotel or cruise port, and make a personal tour around the most beautiful sites of town, like Sibelius Park, Rock Church, Library Oodi and the Market Square. You will see Sibelius Monument, The Rock Church, Railway Station, and Square, Our tour includes also a half-day trip to Suomenlinna fortress, which is situated some 15 minutes away with a ferry from the Market Square. We leave our car near the ferry harbor. In Suomenlinna, we will have the possibility to enjoy lunch in a restaurant (on your own expense). After lunch, we walk around the fortress and hear the history of the site, who has built it and why, wars that have been fought here and the current situation as a Unesco World Heritage site. Your guide (me) is an authorized Suomenlinna guide, and will lead you through the historical events. We may also visit the Suomenlinna Museum if you wish. After the tour, we get back to ferry and our car and get back to your hotel or cruise port.

I am a Nature and Wilderness guide, with a professional ability to work as a tourist guide in Helsinki. I am also able to take you to Suomenlinna as an authorized guide, although it is not allowed to ride bikes there. I have started as a tourist guide year 2013, and I have professional education for this kind of lifestyle and profession. I used to be 39 years as an computer engineer, but that was not nice... so now it is the time to enjoy life!
Requirements
This tour is very easy to participate to, and does not require any special equipments. Walking in suomenlinna fortress will include cobble-stone pathway walking, so please take good shoes with you, no high heels!
