What are we going to do

Spend a summer day on Ärjänsaari-island, also known as a paradise island. Ärjä's magnificent sandy beaches, beautiful high sandy slopes and pine-covered landscape surrounded by beautiful Lake Oulujärvi are unforgettable experiences.

A summer day on Ärjänsaari-island is fast by hiking, looking for geocaches, running trails, swimming or just resting on the wonderful sandy beaches enjoying the sun. Sometimes you can visit the sheep of Ärjänsaari, which are on summer work on the island between 5.6-14.8.2023

Ärjänsaari is part of the Rokua Geopark ridge formation, which extends from Lieksa to Hailuoto.

Return transportation from Ärjänsaari leaves 5 hours after the start time. For example if the departure time is 10 am then the return transport will depart from Ärjä at 3 pm.

Kind dogs are welcome on our boat. 🐶

One dog travels with its owner's ticket, for more we charge 5€/dog.

The length of the boat trip is about 4 km and is 5 -15 minutes depending on the weather conditions.

The summer café is open every day from 1 June to 15 August 2023 from 11 am to 4 pm. The café serves coffee, donuts, ice cream, soft drinks and sweets. You can also rent game equipment or, for example, a bicycle, kayak, sup-board or rowing boat from the café.

Our common story starts from the Lauttasaari bridge in August 1994. Vesa had the first marathon of his life and Kaisa had the third… Our common life marathon runs through Atlanta to the shores of Lake Oulujärvi.

We founded the company in 2006 because we wanted to offer people the opportunity to get to know the nature of Kainuu and especially Oulujärvi and Ärjänsaari, even if we don't have our own boat. The business started as a hobby, but over the years it has grown into a profitable business.
Kaisa and Vesa both have education in the field of tourism and healthcare, and Vesa also has the education of a military officer. Kaisa has 15 years of work experience in the healthcare industry and Vesa has almost 30 years of experience as a field medicine trainer and working in several peacekeeping positions.

We have been operating as a surrogate and support family since 2007.
Dogs are also part of our family. At the moment, our family has five East Siberian laikas and one brteon. We breed dogs under the name of Tyrskyranta`s kennel.

Hieno kohde, maineensa veroinen! Kovasta tuulesta huolimatta taitava kippari kuljetti meidät turvallisesti saarelle ja takaisin. Pieni pettymys oli kun kahvila saarella ei ollut enää auki. Täytyi pärjätä niukoilla eväillä. Hieno patikkapolku saaren ympäri tuli tehtyä ja sai nähdä monenlaisia luonnon ihmeitä.

Itse Ärjä monipuolisine harrastusmahdollisuuksineen on hieno ja mieleenpainuva paikka. Ilma oli loistava ja seura parasta. ❤️

On 17th of August by 25degrees & sunshine we started out Day trip to Ärjansaari for the first time. We were picked up by boat and got first informations about the Island! Such an interesting history and now free for everyone to enjoy!

Laying on sandy beach, watching the sea like lake Oulunjärvi, bathing in warm water. No words!

After that we went on and walked the forest trails ~6km, wondering the beautiful nature and children combined it with geocaching. 5hrs was perfect time. 5 Stars! We would definitely want to come back someday - thank you for your great service!

Olin päiväretkellä Ärjänsaaressa, vuokrasin fatbiken ja kokemus oli todella kiintoisa ja muistiinpiirtyvä. Hienot maisemat, haasteellinen reitti, ehkä ei eka kertaa pyöräilevälle, sillä polku oli haastava. Toki metsätiellä ekakertalainenkin pärjää. Saaren kahvilasta saa hyviä munkkeja ja kahvia sekä lämpimiä valmiskeittoja. Aion tulla seuraavalla kerralla melontaa kokemaan. Ihastuttava päiväretkinohde.

Upea Oulujärven merellisen ympäristön saari, joka sopii päiväretkeen mainiosti. Luontoelämys, jonka muistaa pitkään. Mainiosti toimiva kuljetus ja kesäkahvio saarella plussaa. Kaunis kesäpäivä kului kävellen ja maisemista nauttien. Kiitos elämyksestä.
